Welcome

I have created this blog as a place to store my poetry and thoughts on writing. I will be posting poetry here on a regular basis. A warning in advance – I have no training in form. I write all of my poetry on-the-spot. These are all poems written in the moment. I find it impossible to constrict myself to the confines of poetic form.

    Hey Kevin,

I am envious of your passion for the spoken word. I tried reading some of mine with a spoken word group here in Starkville, Mississippi but they were so way ahead of me. I felt childish. It’s cool stuff and your poems are always provocative.

    Hey!

Thanks for popping over to my place.

‘I find it impossible to constrict myself to the confines of poetic form.’

Me, too. Although sometimes, I like to use it. Or, to try and give readers what they expect from poetry. A good rhyme at the end of a line.

I sometimes find myself considering a ‘comma’ here or there for too long. It irritates me when I do this, because I don’t write for poets, or poetry critique, I like to think I write for people who don’t read ‘comma’s’.

    ha ha!

I still punctuate though … sometimes.

“I still punctuate though … sometimes”

    Yes…me too. I love ellipses!

I like to write for people who don’t read commas too. Thanks for the visit!

Don’t use too many big words; they confuzzle me. Remember, I’m allergic to semi-colons and question marks. Now write like your face is on fire!

I, too, write what comes in the moment, without rules or structure – only the ones my feelings impose. There is a lot of quality, passion and earthiness in your writing. I enjoy visiting.

This is a lively and beautiful site and you’re a talented, perceptive, and creative poet incapable of writing either a boring or badly-constructed poem… Ergo, a marvellous cocktail for all your readers!
    Congratulations, Kavin.

    Kevin,

Can I hang here if I enjoy formalist, punctuated poetry? Just kidding. Always liked your stuff and I’m glad I found where you hide it.

Through some blogosphere meanderings, I discovered that I’m on your Blogroll — and delighted to be here! Bravo for your commitment to form-busting with your poetry: creatively speaking, the best place to start is no place at all. Thanks for finding me, so I could, in turn, find you and your fine poetics…

    Kevin,

    Excellent work.

Although, forms constrict us, whether we admit it or not…something to think about, now isn’t it?

I’ve liked everything I’ve read so far, and don’t expect to stop enjoying myself. And also, much love for your tendency to respond to your fans. It’s obvious you love your work, and as for me, i I didn’t love to write I’d never do it. Keep it up!

Thank you, Garrett, for your very kind words. As always, they are appreciated.
