Q & A With Michael Chabon…

Michael Chabon’s books are so diverse. From The Mysteries of Pittsburgh to Wonder Boys to The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. Each is unique and each is uniquely different. You get comfortable with works like Kav & Clay and Wonder Boys… those sprawling works of wonder with so much character… literary masterpieces, and then he throws in a detective piece (The Final Solution) and the reader suspects that he has brought Sherlock Holmes back to life. Talk about an homage! Then he does a serial (Gentlemen of the Road) for the New York Times Magazine… a fantastic salute to adventure stories. His diversity is what keeps me reading. His talent seems to keep pushing him to go madly off in all directions. I love the unexpected and each of his novels has been just that. He defies a pigeonhole–as he is capable of everything!
